Camps and excursions

The school has an ongoing commitment to a camping program for classes in Years 5 and 6. Other year levels may arrange camping/outdoor education experiences. The social development which takes place at school camps is part of the school's mission. Experience gained 'off campus' is invaluable for all students and staff. Each year, children are offered the opportunity to participate in an enjoyable off-campus residential camp program at varying venues, cultivating many important life skills such leadership, teamwork, care, courtesy, co-operation, commitment and contribution. Pupils who are unable to attend camps must attend school where specially prepared lessons will be undertaken for their benefit.

From time to time throughout the year, excursions are undertaken by classes. Parents will be notified in advance of the details of the excursion; times of departure and return, and will be requested to return a permission slip giving approval for a child to attend. All excursions are selected based on their educational benefits and all students are encouraged to attend.

Most classes tend to undertake one to two excursions per year (limit 4 per year). Seat-belted buses will be used for all camps and excursions with the exception of short trips and swimming.
