Jingeri families!
Welcome to Rochedale South State School, where our vision is for 'Creative, resilient, curious learners empowered to excel'. My name is Stacey Wood and I am the very proud principal of our wonderful school.
Our students are at the centre of everything we do here at Rochedale South State School – ensuring that from when they enter our gates in Prep, to when they exit in Year 6, every child has the opportunity to discover what they are great at, and be supported in their development across all areas of learning, to make sure that every student reaches their full potential. When we ask students what they love about our school they tell us they love that diversity is celebrated, they have lots of interesting extra-curricular opportunities, and that we have amazing teachers and leaders who care about them.
The staff at Rochedale South State School collectively form an expert teaching team. We invest in professional learning opportunities for our teachers and teacher aides, and we connect with networks of schools across the state, to ensure the highest quality teaching and learning occurs in every classroom. Our staff also comprises of experts in a number of fields, who dedicate their time to offering an award-winning choir, a bi-annual musical, and sporting teams who take out many championships. Other schools often visit our classrooms to see the innovative teaching practices in action, and always leave praising our students for how bright and engaged they are.
Engaging students in their learning starts with ensuring every child has strong foundational knowledge in literacy and mathematics. From here, our students engage in inquiry-based learning, and experiences that give them agency to be the leaders of their own learning journey. Student engagement is further supported through our schoolwide positive behaviour for learning systems, where characters Cal and Pam teach children that 'mistakes help me to learn'.
Our community is an incredibly important part of the fabric of our school. Our P and C and chaplaincy support a number of events that open our doors to parents and the wider community, giving Rochedale South State School a 'family feel'. Parents are a child's first teacher, and we value our positive partnerships with parents as part of our inclusive culture.
During your child's education with us at Rochedale South State School, please don't hesitate to pop into the office for a chat any time.
